In 2022, Mexico (X tons) represented the main exporter of hammers and sledge hammers with working part of metal, creating 58% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X tons) and Colombia (X tons), together constituting a 39% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Brazil (with a CAGR of +4.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

In 2022, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, rising by 12% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 27% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Colombia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+3.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2022, the amount of hammers and sledge hammers with working part of metal imported in Latin America and the Caribbean reduced to X tons, waning by -6.6% on the year before. In general, imports continue to indicate a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 30%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, metal hammer imports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted slightly in the following year.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the five major importers of hammers and sledge hammers with working part of metal, namely Brazil, Chile, Peru, Mexico and Colombia, represented more than half of total import. Guatemala (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Argentina (X tons) and Ecuador (X tons). All these countries together took near 15% share of total imports. The following importers - Bolivia (X tons), the Dominican Republic (X tons), El Salvador (X tons), Nicaragua (X tons) and Costa Rica (X tons) - together made up 13% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Guatemala (with a CAGR of +13.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest metal hammer importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Chile ($X), Mexico ($X) and Brazil ($X), with a combined 43% share of total imports. Peru, Guatemala, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Argentina, Ecuador, Bolivia, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Nicaragua lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 45%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Guatemala, with a CAGR of +14.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 2.1% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($X per ton), while Nicaragua ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bolivia (+3.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
