Hand Saw Market Size in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, shipments abroad of hand saws decreased by -20.3% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, exports saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 30%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, hand saw exports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a perceptible setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Mexico (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) dominates exports structure, together constituting 79% of total exports. Panama (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Chile (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 13% share of total exports. Colombia (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Chile (with a CAGR of +32.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.
In value terms, the largest hand saw supplying countries in Latin America and the Caribbean were Mexico ($X), Brazil ($X) and Chile ($X), with a combined 88% share of total exports.
Chile, with a CAGR of +26.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, growing by 5.8% against the previous year. Export price indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, hand saw export price decreased by -24.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 16% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while Panama ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Panama (+0.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.
Hand Saw Imports
Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
After two years of growth, purchases abroad of hand saws decreased by -14.8% to X tons in 2022. Total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +47.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 63% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, hand saw imports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 56% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped in the following year.
Imports by Country
Mexico (X tons), Chile (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) represented roughly 52% of total imports in 2022. Peru (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 7.9% share, followed by Colombia (6.5%) and Bolivia (5.2%). Argentina (X tons), the Dominican Republic (X tons), Guatemala (X tons), Ecuador (X tons), Costa Rica (X tons), Nicaragua (X tons) and El Salvador (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Chile (with a CAGR of +13.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest hand saw importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Chile ($X), Mexico ($X) and Brazil ($X), with a combined 53% share of total imports. Peru, Argentina, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Guatemala, Ecuador, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Bolivia and Nicaragua lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 38%.
El Salvador, with a CAGR of +8.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 4.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 5.1%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($X per ton), while Bolivia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+2.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
