From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Paraguay, while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, Guyana ($X) remains the largest brown rice supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising X% of total brown rice exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Uruguay ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Paraguay, with a X% share.
In Guyana, brown rice exports increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007-2018. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uruguay (-X% per year) and Paraguay (+X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The brown rice export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2018, reducing by -X% against the previous year. Over the last eleven-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when the export price increased by X% year-to-year. The level of export price peaked at $X per ton in 2017, and then declined slightly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Guyana ($X per ton), while Paraguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Guyana, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, brown rice imports continue to indicate a measured setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2018, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, brown rice imports totaled $X in 2018. Over the period under review, brown rice imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, brown rice imports reached their peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2018, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Brazil dominates brown rice imports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near X% of total imports in 2018. Panama (X tons) occupied the second position in the ranking, followed by Trinidad and Tobago (X tons). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total imports. The following importers - Jamaica (X tons), Cuba (X tons), Haiti (X tons) and Barbados (X tons) - together made up X% of total imports.
Brazil experienced a relatively flat trend pattern of husked (brown) rice imports. At the same time, Cuba (+X%), Panama (+X%) and Barbados (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cuba emerged as the fastest-growing importer in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2018. By contrast, Trinidad and Tobago (-X%), Haiti (-X%) and Jamaica (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Panama (+X p.p.) and Cuba (+X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2007-2018, the share of Haiti (-X p.p.), Trinidad and Tobago (-X p.p.), Brazil (-X p.p.) and Jamaica (-X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
