In 2022, shipments abroad of hydrazine and hydroxylamine and their inorganic salts increased by 9.6% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 258%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, hydrazine and hydroxylamine exports expanded sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 269% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Brazil represented the main exporter of hydrazine and hydroxylamine and their inorganic salts in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 72% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X tons), Colombia (X tons) and Peru (X tons), together comprising a 26% share of total exports. Costa Rica (X kg) took a minor share of total exports.
Exports from Brazil decreased at an average annual rate of -1.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Peru (+22.3%), Costa Rica (+8.6%) and Colombia (+5.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +22.3% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Argentina (-13.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (+47 p.p.), Peru (+5.9 p.p.) and Colombia (+5.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Argentina saw its share reduced by -2.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest hydrazine and hydroxylamine supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 78% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Argentina ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 6.6% share.
In Brazil, hydrazine and hydroxylamine exports expanded at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Argentina (-12.8% per year) and Colombia (+3.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. Export price indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, hydrazine and hydroxylamine export price increased by +68.3% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 62%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Costa Rica ($X per ton), while Peru ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+3.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2022, overseas purchases of hydrazine and hydroxylamine and their inorganic salts increased by 15% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, hydrazine and hydroxylamine imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced decrease. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Mexico represented the main importing country with an import of around X tons, which resulted at 51% of total imports. Brazil (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Argentina (X tons). All these countries together took near 40% share of total imports. The following importers - Guatemala (X tons), Saint Kitts and Nevis (X tons) and Colombia (X tons) - each resulted at a 5.3% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Saint Kitts and Nevis (with a CAGR of +60.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
In value terms, Mexico ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported hydrazine and hydroxylamine and their inorganic salts in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with a 24% share of total imports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 10% share.
In Mexico, hydrazine and hydroxylamine imports expanded at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Brazil (-9.7% per year) and Argentina (+3.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, rising by 20% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per ton), while Saint Kitts and Nevis ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+8.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
