Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a notable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 77%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-alloy steel i-sections exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -29.3% against 2018 indices. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Mexico (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) prevails in exports structure, together constituting 92% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Guatemala (X tons), committing a 4.7% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Guatemala (with a CAGR of +19.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Mexico ($X), Brazil ($X) and Guatemala ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 95% share of total exports.
Guatemala, with a CAGR of +21.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 46% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Guatemala ($X per ton), while Brazil ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
Non-alloy steel i-sections imports surged to X tons in 2021, jumping by 26% against 2020. Overall, imports, however, recorded a deep contraction. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country
Argentina (X tons), Colombia (X tons), Mexico (X tons), Brazil (X tons) and the Dominican Republic (X tons) represented roughly 72% of total imports in 2021. Chile (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Guatemala (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 9.8% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Dominican Republic (with a CAGR of +13.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Argentina ($X), Colombia ($X) and Mexico ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 54% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Guatemala and Chile, which together accounted for a further 29%.
The Dominican Republic, with a CAGR of +15.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, growing by 25% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Mexico ($X per ton) and Guatemala ($X per ton), while Brazil ($X per ton) and Argentina ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
