Inductor Market Size in Latin America and the Caribbean

For the eighth consecutive year, the Latin American inductor market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 42% to $X in 2022. In general, consumption continues to indicate a significant increase. The level of consumption peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Inductor Production in Latin America and the Caribbean

In value terms, inductor production expanded notably to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production posted significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 167% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Inductor Exports

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, shipments abroad of inductors decreased by -29.8% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports showed a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 62%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, inductor exports surged to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +26.3% against 2017 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Brazil was the key exporting country with an export of about X units, which reached 69% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Mexico (X units), constituting a 23% share of total exports. Paraguay (X units) and Haiti (X units) took a minor share of total exports.

Brazil experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of inductors. At the same time, Paraguay (+117.5%) and Haiti (+6.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Paraguay emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +117.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Mexico (-10.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+20 p.p.) and Paraguay (+2.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Mexico (-25.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest inductor supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 79% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Haiti, with a 0.9% share.

In Mexico, inductor exports expanded at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Brazil (-1.6% per year) and Haiti (+4.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 83% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a strong expansion. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per unit), while Paraguay (less than $X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+19.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Inductor Imports

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, the amount of inductors imported in Latin America and the Caribbean expanded significantly to X units, surging by 7% compared with the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 19%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, inductor imports expanded notably to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +37.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 20%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Mexico was the major importer of inductors in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was approx. 74% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X units), making up a 14% share of total imports. Colombia (X units), Uruguay (X units) and Argentina (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Mexico increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uruguay (+38.9%) and Colombia (+4.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uruguay emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +38.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Brazil (-2.8%) and Argentina (-14.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Mexico (+20 p.p.) and Uruguay (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Argentina and Brazil saw its share reduced by -10.3% and -10.8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported inductors in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 85% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 1.2% share.

In Mexico, inductor imports expanded at an average annual rate of +10.0% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Brazil (-1.4% per year) and Colombia (+6.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, growing by 6.6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.9%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 12% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per unit), while Colombia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
