Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, declining by -20.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the export price increased by 41%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Colombia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Colombia (+0.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, approx. X units of instruments for dental sciences were imported in Latin America and the Caribbean; growing by 93% on the year before. Overall, imports recorded a perceptible expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

At the same time, Chile (+12.0%), El Salvador (+11.8%), Colombia (+5.7%), Brazil (+5.6%), Peru (+5.2%) and Guatemala (+4.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Chile emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +12.0% from 2012-2021. While the share of Chile (+3.5 p.p.), Brazil (+3.5 p.p.), El Salvador (+1.7 p.p.) and Colombia (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Mexico (-2.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest dental instruments importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Brazil ($X), Mexico ($X) and Chile ($X), together comprising 67% of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Brazil, with a CAGR of +11.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
