Total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, scaffolding, shuttering, and propping equipment exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Chile (X tons) and Peru (X tons) represented the major exporters of equipment for scaffolding, shuttering, propping or pit propping in 2021, reaching approx. 27% and 26% of total exports, respectively. Colombia (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 13% share, followed by Ecuador (9.2%) and Mexico (9%). The following exporters - Guatemala (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) - each resulted at an 8.2% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Ecuador (with a CAGR of +32.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Peru ($X), Chile ($X) and Colombia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together comprising 64% of total exports. Mexico, Ecuador, Guatemala and Brazil lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.
Ecuador, with a CAGR of +30.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, flattening at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a mild decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 17%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Colombia ($X per ton) and Guatemala ($X per ton), while Ecuador ($X per ton) and Chile ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Guatemala (+2.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2021, imports of equipment for scaffolding, shuttering, propping or pit propping in Latin America and the Caribbean soared to X tons, increasing by 37% compared with the year before. Overall, imports, however, saw a pronounced reduction. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Brazil (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Argentina (X tons), Cuba (X tons) and Mexico (X tons). All these countries together took near 27% share of total imports. The Dominican Republic (X tons), Bahamas (X tons), Guatemala (X tons), El Salvador (X tons), Jamaica (X tons) and Paraguay (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Jamaica (with a CAGR of +26.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest scaffolding, shuttering, and propping equipment importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Chile ($X), Peru ($X) and Cuba ($X), with a combined 51% share of total imports.
Cuba, with a CAGR of +21.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cuba ($X per ton), while Jamaica ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
