Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Mexico experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of iron or steel leaf-springs and leaves. At the same time, Argentina (+13.8%), Guatemala (+3.6%), Peru (+3.5%), Uruguay (+3.3%) and Honduras (+1.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Argentina emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +13.8% from 2012-2022. Bolivia, Paraguay and Colombia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Chile (-3.3%), Ecuador (-3.4%) and Brazil (-7.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Argentina (+8.9 p.p.), Mexico (+3 p.p.), Peru (+1.9 p.p.) and Guatemala (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Brazil (-13.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Mexico ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported iron or steel leaf-springs and leaves in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Mexico amounted to -2.8%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Brazil (-4.7% per year) and Argentina (+12.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uruguay ($X per ton), while Paraguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bolivia (+5.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
