The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, limestone flux and limestone exports rose sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a slight decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 23% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Jamaica (X tons) represented the major exporter of limestone flux, limestone and calcareous stone, comprising 81% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the Dominican Republic (X tons), comprising an 11% share of total exports. Brazil (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Exports from Jamaica increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Brazil (+24.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Brazil emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +24.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the Dominican Republic (-12.4%) and Argentina (-19.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Jamaica (+43 p.p.) and Brazil (+3.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Argentina (-14.2 p.p.) and the Dominican Republic (-30.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Jamaica ($X) remains the largest limestone flux and limestone supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 63% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Dominican Republic ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 6.3% share.

In Jamaica, limestone flux and limestone exports increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Dominican Republic (-5.3% per year) and Argentina (-17.0% per year).

In 2022, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. After four years of growth, purchases abroad of limestone flux, limestone and calcareous stone decreased by -1.6% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded measured growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 71% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, limestone flux and limestone imports rose significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 52%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
