In 2021, shipments abroad of machinery for preparing animal feedstuffs was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, showed a slight reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 36%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, feedstuff preparing machinery exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a perceptible setback. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Brazil dominates exports structure, finishing at X units, which was near 92% of total exports in 2021. The following exporters - Argentina (X units) and Colombia (X units) - together made up 4.7% of total exports.

Brazil experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of machinery for preparing animal feedstuffs. At the same time, Colombia (+4.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +4.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Argentina (-10.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+14 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Argentina (-3.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest feedstuff preparing machinery supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 92% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Argentina ($X), with a 2.7% share of total exports.

In Brazil, feedstuff preparing machinery exports contracted by an average annual rate of -1.7% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Argentina (-14.1% per year) and Colombia (+5.1% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a mild downturn. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Colombia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Colombia (+0.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2021, purchases abroad of machinery for preparing animal feedstuffs increased by 38% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, showed a slight reduction. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Honduras (X units), Uruguay (X units), the Dominican Republic (X units), Peru (X units), Venezuela (X units) and Argentina (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Guatemala (with a CAGR of +36.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported machinery for preparing animal feedstuffs in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 27% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Ecuador, with a 9% share.

In Brazil, feedstuff preparing machinery imports increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Chile (+7.7% per year) and Ecuador (+20.7% per year).

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the import price increased by 4.9% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per unit), while Honduras ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+5.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
