As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, textile relling machine exports rose markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a pronounced reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 129%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Honduras prevails in exports structure, resulting at X units, which was approx. 59% of total exports in 2021. Jamaica (X units) held an 8.5% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Brazil (6.5%), Mexico (5.8%), the Dominican Republic (5.6%) and Ecuador (4.7%). El Salvador (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to textile relling machine exports from Honduras stood at +5.4%. At the same time, Jamaica (+265.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Jamaica emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +265.8% from 2012-2021. Brazil experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Ecuador (-6.5%), the Dominican Republic (-12.0%), Mexico (-14.3%) and El Salvador (-16.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Honduras (+27 p.p.) and Jamaica (+8.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Ecuador, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic and Mexico saw its share reduced by -2.7%, -6%, -9.8% and -14.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X), Mexico ($X) and El Salvador ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together accounting for 69% of total exports. The Dominican Republic, Honduras, Jamaica and Ecuador lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Jamaica, with a CAGR of +326.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, rising by 30% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 47%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was El Salvador ($X per unit), while Honduras ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by El Salvador (+25.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2021, textile relling machine imports in Latin America and the Caribbean rose sharply to X units, picking up by 9.1% compared with 2020. Total imports indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +87.5% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 39%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, textile relling machine imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 18%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Brazil (X units) and Chile (X units) were the largest importers of machines for reeling, unreeling or textile fabrics in Latin America and the Caribbean, together reaching near 49% of total imports. It was distantly followed by the Dominican Republic (X units), Peru (X units) and Mexico (X units), together committing a 27% share of total imports. The following importers - Guatemala (X units), Bolivia (X units), El Salvador (X units), Paraguay (X units), Argentina (X units), Ecuador (X units) and Nicaragua (X units) - together made up 19% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Nicaragua (with a CAGR of +41.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported machines for reeling, unreeling or textile fabrics in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 40% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Argentina, with an 8.7% share.

In Mexico, textile relling machine imports increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Brazil (-11.5% per year) and Argentina (+2.0% per year).
