The Latin American mixed juices market reduced slightly to $X in 2022, falling by -3.7% against the previous year. In general, consumption continues to indicate a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the market value increased by 8.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production reached the maximum level at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, overseas shipments of mixtures of fruit and vegetable juices decreased by -10.6% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, exports recorded a slight decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 48%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, mixed juices exports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 52% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.

Exports by Country

The Dominican Republic represented the key exporter of mixtures of fruit and vegetable juices in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was near 55% of total exports in 2022. Jamaica (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 15% share, followed by Guatemala (5.9%) and Mexico (5.8%). Peru (X tons), Brazil (X tons) and Trinidad and Tobago (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

Exports from the Dominican Republic increased at an average annual rate of +21.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Jamaica (+32.5%), Brazil (+7.8%) and Peru (+5.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Jamaica emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +32.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Trinidad and Tobago (-16.7%), Mexico (-17.0%) and Guatemala (-17.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the Dominican Republic (+48 p.p.), Jamaica (+15 p.p.), Peru (+2.1 p.p.) and Brazil (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Trinidad and Tobago (-11.6 p.p.), Mexico (-26.8 p.p.) and Guatemala (-27.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, the Dominican Republic ($X) remains the largest mixed juices supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Jamaica ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Peru, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in the Dominican Republic totaled +20.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Jamaica (+34.1% per year) and Peru (+11.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 3.1% against the previous year. Export price indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, mixed juices export price increased by +2.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the export price increased by 19%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per ton), while Guatemala ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (+5.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, approx. X tons of mixtures of fruit and vegetable juices were imported in Latin America and the Caribbean; which is down by -36.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, mixed juices imports contracted significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a mild curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

El Salvador (X tons), Curacao (X tons), Chile (X tons), Panama (X tons), Bahamas (X tons), Jamaica (X tons), Guyana (X tons), Mexico (X tons), Cayman Islands (X tons), Trinidad and Tobago (X tons), Barbados (X tons) and the Dominican Republic (X tons) represented roughly 68% of total imports in 2022. Suriname (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Panama (with a CAGR of +53.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest mixed juices importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Panama ($X), Chile ($X) and Mexico ($X), together accounting for 23% of total imports.

Panama, with a CAGR of +57.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a mild contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the import price increased by 28%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
