Mould For Glass Market Size in Latin America and the Caribbean

After three years of decline, the Latin American mould for glass market increased by 10% to $X in 2021. The total consumption indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The total production indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production decreased by -28.0% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 35%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

Mould for glass exports shrank remarkably to X units in 2021, with a decrease of -23% compared with 2020 figures. In general, exports continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 9.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, mould for glass exports fell significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 5.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Mexico (X units), distantly followed by Guatemala (X units), Brazil (X units), Costa Rica (X units) and Argentina (X units) represented the largest exporters of moulds for glass, together making up 92% of total exports. Colombia (X units) took a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Brazil (with a CAGR of +5.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) emerged as the largest mould for glass supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 45% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Guatemala ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Costa Rica, with a 15% share.

In Mexico, mould for glass exports increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Guatemala (-0.2% per year) and Costa Rica (-7.5% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, falling by -4.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per unit), while Brazil ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2021, purchases abroad of moulds for glass increased by 15% to X units, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, mould for glass imports expanded remarkably to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Mexico represented the largest importer of moulds for glass in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was approx. 39% of total imports in 2021. Chile (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Costa Rica (X units), Colombia (X units), Argentina (X units), Brazil (X units), Guatemala (X units) and Peru (X units). All these countries together took near 54% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to mould for glass imports into Mexico stood at +13.7%. At the same time, Colombia (+18.5%), Chile (+12.6%), Argentina (+9.9%), Brazil (+3.6%) and Peru (+3.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +18.5% from 2012-2021. Guatemala experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Costa Rica (-1.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Mexico (+18 p.p.), Chile (+7.8 p.p.), Colombia (+4 p.p.) and Argentina (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Guatemala (-4.2 p.p.) and Costa Rica (-8.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported moulds for glass in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Costa Rica, with a 7.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Mexico amounted to +7.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Chile (+12.2% per year) and Costa Rica (+0.2% per year).

In 2021, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, waning by -5.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 15% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
