Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, metal non-electric bell exports rose notably to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, faced a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 59%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Argentina (X tons) was the major exporter of non-electric bells and gongs of base metal, committing 50% of total exports. Colombia (X kg) held a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by the Dominican Republic (9.8%), Panama (9%) and Brazil (5%). Guatemala (X kg) and Mexico (X kg) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to metal non-electric bell exports from Argentina stood at +17.0%. At the same time, the Dominican Republic (+27.3%), Guatemala (+1.7%) and Brazil (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Argentina (+45 p.p.), the Dominican Republic (+9.3 p.p.), Brazil (+3.2 p.p.), Colombia (+2.7 p.p.) and Guatemala (+2.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Panama (-12 p.p.) and Mexico (-41.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Argentina ($X) remains the largest metal non-electric bell supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 57% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($X), with a 10% share of total exports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 7.9% share.

In Argentina, metal non-electric bell exports increased at an average annual rate of +17.6% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Brazil (+4.4% per year) and Colombia (-6.5% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 1.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 36%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Guatemala ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Dominican Republic (+9.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of non-electric bells and gongs of base metal increased by 36% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, metal non-electric bell imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 31% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Brazil (X tons), Chile (X tons) and Mexico (X tons) represented the key importer of non-electric bells and gongs of base metal in Latin America and the Caribbean, achieving 57% of total import. Peru (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Argentina (X tons). All these countries together took near 15% share of total imports. The following importers - the Dominican Republic (X tons), Guatemala (X tons), British Virgin Islands (X tons), Colombia (X tons), Honduras (X tons) and Ecuador (X tons) - together made up 15% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for British Virgin Islands (with a CAGR of +52.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest metal non-electric bell importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Mexico ($X), Brazil ($X) and Chile ($X), with a combined 65% share of total imports. Peru, Argentina, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Guatemala, Ecuador, Honduras and British Virgin Islands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.

British Virgin Islands, with a CAGR of +19.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, shrinking by -6.6% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 17%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while British Virgin Islands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
