In general, exports, however, saw a pronounced contraction. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-refractory clay constructional products exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 47%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Mexico represented the major exporting country with an export of about X tons, which amounted to 52% of total exports. Colombia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Bolivia (X tons), Paraguay (X tons) and Brazil (X tons). All these countries together held near 44% share of total exports.
Exports from Mexico decreased at an average annual rate of -6.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Paraguay (+6.3%), Colombia (+5.4%) and Brazil (+2.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Paraguay emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +6.3% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Bolivia (-15.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Colombia (+11 p.p.), Bolivia (+9.8 p.p.), Paraguay (+5.2 p.p.) and Brazil (+3.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Mexico (-22.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest non-refractory clay constructional products supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Colombia ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Brazil, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Mexico stood at -6.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Colombia (+1.8% per year) and Brazil (+6.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, declining by -3.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 46% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Paraguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+3.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2022, supplies from abroad of non-refractory clay constructional products increased by 32% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +68.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 117% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, non-refractory clay constructional products imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +60.6% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 115%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Panama represented the major importing country with an import of about X tons, which resulted at 29% of total imports. The Dominican Republic (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 7.1% share, followed by Guyana (6.3%), Costa Rica (6%), Colombia (5%), Uruguay (5%), Venezuela (4.7%) and Cayman Islands (4.5%). Jamaica (X tons), Curacao (X tons), Bahamas (X tons), Guatemala (X tons) and Peru (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-refractory clay constructional products imports into Panama stood at +17.2%. At the same time, Guyana (+31.7%), Cayman Islands (+27.4%), Peru (+24.8%), Costa Rica (+20.6%), Jamaica (+18.3%), Guatemala (+14.1%), Bahamas (+9.6%), the Dominican Republic (+7.6%), Venezuela (+5.8%) and Colombia (+4.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Guyana emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +31.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Uruguay (-2.4%) and Curacao (-11.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Panama (+18 p.p.), Guyana (+5.6 p.p.), Costa Rica (+4.4 p.p.), Cayman Islands (+3.8 p.p.) and Jamaica (+2.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Uruguay and Curacao saw its share reduced by -6.1% and -19.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Jamaica ($X), Colombia ($X) and Panama ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 45% share of total imports.
Jamaica, with a CAGR of +28.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -11.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 9.8%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
