The total production indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production increased by +2.5% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production of hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2022, the amount of thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine exported in Latin America and the Caribbean shrank remarkably to X tons, which is down by -52.1% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 107%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, exports of thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine reduced notably to $X in 2022. In general, exports recorded a mild reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 85%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
Exports by Country
Guatemala was the main exporter of thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was near 48% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X tons) and Uruguay (X tons), together achieving a 36% share of total exports. The following exporters - Ecuador (X tons), Panama (X tons), Honduras (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) - together made up 9.2% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Guatemala (with a CAGR of +39.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine supplying countries in Latin America and the Caribbean were Guatemala ($X), Brazil ($X) and Uruguay ($X), together accounting for 83% of total exports.
Guatemala, with a CAGR of +36.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -3% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a mild downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 17%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per ton), while Uruguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (-0.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine, when their volume decreased by -6.2% to X tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 13%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, imports of thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine expanded significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Brazil represented the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which finished at 47% of total imports. Chile (X tons) held a 9.7% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Argentina (9.5%), Colombia (5.3%) and Mexico (5.1%). The following importers - Guatemala (X tons), Peru (X tons), Bolivia (X tons), the Dominican Republic (X tons), Ecuador (X tons) and Venezuela (X tons) - together made up 17% of total imports.
Imports into Brazil increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Guatemala (+12.9%), Bolivia (+7.4%), the Dominican Republic (+6.1%), Argentina (+4.3%), Colombia (+2.3%) and Chile (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Guatemala emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +12.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Peru (-1.4%), Ecuador (-3.7%), Mexico (-7.9%) and Venezuela (-10.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+13 p.p.) and Guatemala (+2.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Ecuador (-1.6 p.p.), Peru (-1.9 p.p.), Venezuela (-4.9 p.p.) and Mexico (-10 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 46% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Argentina ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Chile, with a 9.8% share.
In Brazil, imports of thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine expanded at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Argentina (+2.6% per year) and Chile (+0.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, surging by 23% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the import price increased by 36%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Argentina ($X per ton) and Colombia ($X per ton), while Venezuela ($X per ton) and Mexico ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+1.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
