Moreover, Guatemala emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +37.0% from 2012-2022. Argentina experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Chile (-3.0%) and Brazil (-10.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Mexico, Guatemala and Peru increased by +33, +2.8 and +1.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest other plastic tubes, pipes and hoses supplying countries in Latin America and the Caribbean were Mexico ($X), Brazil ($X) and Chile ($X), together comprising 91% of total exports. Argentina, Peru and Guatemala lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 6.1%.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 8.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Guatemala ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Total imports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last decade.
