Particle Accelerator Market Size in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in the Latin American particle accelerator market, when its value increased by 85% to $X. Overall, consumption continues to indicate a sharp slump. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Particle Accelerator Production in Latin America and the Caribbean

In value terms, particle accelerator production soared to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, recorded a sharp decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 1,508% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2021, production growth remained at a lower figure.

Particle Accelerator Exports

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of particle accelerators, when their volume increased by 164% to X units. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 235%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, particle accelerator exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports recorded a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 184%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Costa Rica (X units), Mexico (X units), Chile (X units) and Brazil (X units) represented roughly 78% of total exports in 2021. Colombia (X units) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 9.3% share, followed by Honduras (8%). Panama (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Brazil (with a CAGR of +47.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest particle accelerator supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Colombia ($X), with a 5.6% share of total exports. It was followed by Mexico, with a 5.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil amounted to +131.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Colombia (+34.8% per year) and Mexico (-11.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -32.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, posted a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by 402%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Honduras ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+57.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Particle Accelerator Imports

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

Particle accelerator imports fell slightly to X units in 2021, remaining stable against the year before. In general, imports saw a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 232%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, particle accelerator imports declined remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 211% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Argentina was the main importer of particle accelerators in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of imports amounting to X units, which was approx. 46% of total imports in 2021. Paraguay (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Colombia (X units). All these countries together took approx. 49% share of total imports. Mexico (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Paraguay (with a CAGR of +148.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest particle accelerator importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Argentina ($X), Colombia ($X) and Mexico ($X), with a combined 48% share of total imports. Paraguay lagged somewhat behind, comprising a further 1.6%.

Among the main importing countries, Paraguay, with a CAGR of +100.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per unit in 2021, reducing by -16.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the import price increased by 967% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per unit), while Paraguay ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Colombia (+9.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
