Particle Board Market Size in Latin America and the Caribbean

The Latin American particle board market dropped to $X in 2022, which is down by -7.8% against the previous year. Overall, consumption saw a slight setback. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, after ten years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of particle board, when their volume decreased by -13.4% to X cubic meters. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 38%. The volume of export peaked at X cubic meters in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, particle board exports amounted to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 36%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

Brazil was the main exporting country with an export of around X cubic meters, which accounted for 45% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Ecuador (X cubic meters) and Chile (X cubic meters), together committing a 48% share of total exports. The following exporters - Mexico (X cubic meters) and Argentina (X cubic meters) - each accounted for a 5.4% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Brazil (with a CAGR of +21.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Ecuador ($X), Brazil ($X) and Chile ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 92% share of total exports.

Brazil, with a CAGR of +18.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per cubic meter, jumping by 18% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per cubic meter in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per cubic meter), while Brazil ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+2.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of particle board, when their volume decreased by -20.1% to X cubic meters. Total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +4.0% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 39%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X cubic meters, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

In value terms, particle board imports shrank remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 61%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Peru (X cubic meters), distantly followed by Colombia (X cubic meters), Mexico (X cubic meters) and Argentina (X cubic meters) represented the main importers of particle board, together creating 75% of total imports. Chile (X cubic meters), Bolivia (X cubic meters), Ecuador (X cubic meters), Guatemala (X cubic meters), Costa Rica (X cubic meters), the Dominican Republic (X cubic meters), Panama (X cubic meters) and El Salvador (X cubic meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Panama (with a CAGR of +75.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Peru ($X), Colombia ($X) and Mexico ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 66% of total imports. Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Panama, Costa Rica, Ecuador and El Salvador lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.

Among the main importing countries, Panama, with a CAGR of +75.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per cubic meter, rising by 4.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($X per cubic meter), while Peru ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Guatemala (+5.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
