Photo Camera Market Size in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, the Latin American photo camera market increased by 7.3% to $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a slight shrinkage. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, the amount of photographic (other than cinematographic) cameras exported in Latin America and the Caribbean surged to X units, growing by 67% against the previous year's figure. In general, exports, however, showed a precipitous shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 2,942%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, photo camera exports fell notably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a precipitous contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 72% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Mexico (X units) and Argentina (X units) represented the largest exporters of photographic (other than cinematographic) cameras in 2022, resulting at approx. 27% and 19% of total exports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Panama (X units), Brazil (X units), the Dominican Republic (X units), Bahamas (X units) and Chile (X units), together committing a 44% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Bahamas (with a CAGR of +50.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Argentina ($X), Chile ($X) and Panama ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 49% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Argentina, with a CAGR of +37.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -49.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 2,925% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2021, and then fell significantly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Mexico ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Dominican Republic (+12.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of photographic (other than cinematographic) cameras, when their volume decreased by -9% to X units. In general, imports showed a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 61% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The following importers - Chile (X units), Colombia (X units), Argentina (X units) and Mexico (X units) - together made up 9.5% of total imports.

At the same time, Chile (+6.9%), Colombia (+2.4%) and Brazil (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest photo camera importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Chile ($X), Argentina ($X) and Brazil ($X), together accounting for 56% of total imports. Cuba, Colombia and Mexico lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 18%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Cuba, with a CAGR of +5.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 1.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 102%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per unit), while Cuba ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+22.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
