From 2012 to 2021, the share of Chile and Costa Rica increased by +19 and +13 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X), Mexico ($X) and Chile ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 87% share of total exports. Peru, Costa Rica and Ecuador lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 4.8%.
Among the main exporting countries, Costa Rica, with a CAGR of +0.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, rising by 88% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate resilient growth. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per unit), while Costa Rica ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+17.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2021, the amount of planing, milling or moulding machines imported in Latin America and the Caribbean skyrocketed to X units, jumping by 83% on 2020. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a remarkable increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, wood milling machine imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -21.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 38% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per unit), while Paraguay ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
