The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Over the period under review, the export price saw a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the export price increased by 31%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, spectacle plastic frame imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% over the last nine years. Chile (+11 p.p.), Peru (+6.1 p.p.) and Ecuador (+2.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Brazil and Mexico saw its share reduced by -3.9% and -8.2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported plastic frames and mountings for spectacles and goggles in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 35% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Peru, with a 9.3% share.
