The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, plastic hose and hose fitting exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +66.1% against 2016 indices. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Mexico represented the key exporter of plastic hoses and hose fittings in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was near 61% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X tons) and Brazil (X tons), together comprising a 24% share of total exports. The following exporters - Chile (X tons), Colombia (X tons), Peru (X tons) and El Salvador (X tons) - together made up 11% of total exports.

Exports from Mexico increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Peru (+25.7%), El Salvador (+6.6%), Colombia (+3.2%) and Argentina (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +25.7% from 2012-2021. Chile experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Brazil (-2.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Mexico (+11 p.p.) and Peru (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Argentina (-3.1 p.p.) and Brazil (-7.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest plastic hose and hose fitting supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 7.1% share.

In Mexico, plastic hose and hose fitting exports increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Brazil (-8.8% per year) and Argentina (-2.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -2.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a mild decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 5.5%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of plastic hoses and hose fittings increased by 14% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, plastic hose and hose fitting imports surged to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Mexico was the major importing country with an import of about X tons, which accounted for 50% of total imports. Brazil (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Costa Rica (X tons), Chile (X tons) and Peru (X tons). All these countries together took near 27% share of total imports. Argentina (X tons), Colombia (X tons), Paraguay (X tons), Guatemala (X tons) and Ecuador (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to plastic hose and hose fitting imports into Mexico stood at +3.1%. At the same time, Costa Rica (+20.2%), Paraguay (+9.6%), Chile (+9.3%), Argentina (+7.0%), Colombia (+6.5%), Ecuador (+6.2%), Peru (+5.0%), Guatemala (+4.7%) and Brazil (+4.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Costa Rica emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +20.2% from 2012-2021. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($X), with a 9.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Costa Rica, with a 9.5% share.
