The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Mexico represented the major exporter of plastics household articles and toilet articles in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was approx. 45% of total exports in 2021. The Dominican Republic (X tons) held a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Guatemala (8.4%), El Salvador (8.1%), Peru (7.7%) and Brazil (7.2%). Colombia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to plastic household ware exports from Mexico stood at +4.8%. At the same time, the Dominican Republic (+12.5%), Brazil (+5.9%), El Salvador (+2.0%), Guatemala (+1.7%) and Peru (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Dominican Republic emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +12.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Colombia (-1.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the Dominican Republic and Mexico increased by +6.2 and +5.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest plastic household ware supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Dominican Republic ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Brazil, with an 8.9% share.
In Mexico, plastic household ware exports increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Dominican Republic (+15.3% per year) and Brazil (+4.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, declining by -8.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 5.3% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then fell in the following year.

As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, plastic household ware imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Mexico (X tons) and Chile (X tons) represented the main importers of plastics household articles and toilet articles in 2021, recording near 20% and 16% of total imports, respectively. Brazil (X tons) held a 9.3% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Guatemala (5.1%). Colombia (X tons), Bolivia (X tons), the Dominican Republic (X tons), Panama (X tons), Peru (X tons), Haiti (X tons), Honduras (X tons), Nicaragua (X tons) and Costa Rica (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Chile (with a CAGR of +15.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest plastic household ware importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Mexico ($X), Chile ($X) and Brazil ($X), together accounting for 45% of total imports. These countries were followed by Colombia, Guatemala, Peru, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Haiti, Honduras, Bolivia and Nicaragua, which together accounted for a further 35%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Haiti, with a CAGR of +12.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, growing by 2.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the import price increased by 6.9% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per ton), while Bolivia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Nicaragua (+2.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
