Printing Press Market Size in Latin America and the Caribbean

The Latin American printing press market surged to $X in 2022, picking up by 25% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, showed a slight slump. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, printing press production stood at $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, showed a slight reduction. Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, shipments abroad of printing presses decreased by -30.8% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a temperate expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 189%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, printing press exports stood at $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a slight downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 52%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Bolivia was the largest exporting country with an export of about X units, which amounted to 36% of total exports. Brazil (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Colombia (X units), Mexico (X units), El Salvador (X units), Costa Rica (X units) and the Dominican Republic (X units). All these countries together held approx. 40% share of total exports. Peru (X units), Honduras (X units), Chile (X units), Argentina (X units), Panama (X units) and Ecuador (X units) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to printing press exports from Bolivia stood at +7.4%. At the same time, Honduras (+43.1%), El Salvador (+35.2%), Ecuador (+15.3%), Peru (+13.7%), Colombia (+6.8%), Panama (+6.7%) and Brazil (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Honduras emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +43.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Argentina (-1.9%), Costa Rica (-6.0%), Mexico (-8.5%), the Dominican Republic (-9.6%) and Chile (-11.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Bolivia (+36 p.p.), El Salvador (+5.7 p.p.), Honduras (+3.5 p.p.), Peru (+2.8 p.p.) and Colombia (+2.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Argentina (-1.8 p.p.), Costa Rica (-8.8 p.p.), Chile (-11.7 p.p.), the Dominican Republic (-12.3 p.p.) and Mexico (-15.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest printing press supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 6.9% share of total exports. It was followed by Peru, with a 6.3% share.

In Brazil, printing press exports increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Chile (-0.7% per year) and Peru (+22.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 49% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 77%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Bolivia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Dominican Republic (+24.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2022, imports of printing presses in Latin America and the Caribbean expanded rapidly to X units, growing by 15% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, printing press imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt descent. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Brazil (X units), distantly followed by Mexico (X units), Bolivia (X units), Cuba (X units), Guyana (X units) and the Dominican Republic (X units) were the main importers of printing presses, together constituting 80% of total imports. Chile (X units) held a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Guyana (with a CAGR of +21.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Mexico ($X), Brazil ($X) and Chile ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 53% of total imports. The Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Cuba and Guyana lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 5.9%.

Guyana, with a CAGR of +9.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by 6.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a noticeable setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the import price increased by 44%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Guyana ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
