Radar Apparatus Market Size in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2021, the Latin American radar apparatus market was finally on the rise to reach $X after five years of decline. In general, consumption, however, showed a noticeable curtailment. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Radar Apparatus Production in Latin America and the Caribbean

In value terms, radar apparatus production expanded sharply to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, recorded a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the production volume increased by 11%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2016 to 2021, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Radar Apparatus Exports

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2021, overseas shipments of radar apparatus decreased by less than 0.1% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports showed a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, radar apparatus exports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 48%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Mexico dominates exports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 93% of total exports in 2021. Ecuador (X tons) and Costa Rica (X tons) took a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to radar apparatus exports from Mexico stood at -2.7%. At the same time, Costa Rica (+81.9%) and Ecuador (+14.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Costa Rica emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +81.9% from 2012-2021. Ecuador (+2 p.p.) and Costa Rica (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Mexico saw its share reduced by -3.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest radar apparatus supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Costa Rica ($X), with a 0.5% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Mexico amounted to -3.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Costa Rica (+71.1% per year) and Ecuador (+1.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a slight shrinkage. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Ecuador ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (-0.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Radar Apparatus Imports

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2021, the amount of radar apparatus imported in Latin America and the Caribbean soared to X tons, with an increase of 21% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports saw a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 91% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, radar apparatus imports contracted to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 72%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Dominica prevails in imports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 92% of total imports in 2021. Mexico (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.

Dominica was also the fastest-growing in terms of the radar apparatus imports, with a CAGR of +38.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Mexico (+6.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Dominica (+48 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Mexico saw its share reduced by -16.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported radar apparatus in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 55% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Dominica ($X), with a 0.1% share of total imports.

In Mexico, radar apparatus imports increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the period from 2012-2021.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -29% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a dramatic contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 33%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Dominica totaled $X per ton.
