The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -32.8% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 79%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

It was distantly followed by Brazil (X tons) and Argentina (X tons), together comprising a 33% share of total exports. The Dominican Republic (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In Mexico, deformed non-alloy steel wire rod exports expanded at an average annual rate of +11.7% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Brazil (+12.7% per year) and Argentina (+4.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, growing by 51% against the previous year. Export price indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Mexico ($X per ton) and Argentina ($X per ton), while Brazil ($X per ton) and the Dominican Republic ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Dominican Republic (+2.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2021, overseas purchases of ribbed or other deformed wire rod of non-alloy steel decreased by -17.3% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 101%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, deformed non-alloy steel wire rod imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 141%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Haiti represented the main importer of ribbed or other deformed wire rod of non-alloy steel in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 38% of total imports in 2021. Peru (X tons) held a 21% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Chile (7.6%), Brazil (6.4%) and the Dominican Republic (5.4%). Bolivia (X tons), Paraguay (X tons), Suriname (X tons), Bahamas (X tons) and Barbados (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Chile (with a CAGR of +56.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest deformed non-alloy steel wire rod importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Haiti ($X), Peru ($X) and Chile ($X), with a combined 64% share of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Chile, with a CAGR of +58.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Barbados ($X per ton), while Suriname ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
