After three years of decline, purchases abroad of rolls for rolling mills increased by 129% to X units in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible contraction. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, mill rolling roll imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a noticeable decrease. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Brazil was the largest importer of rolls for rolling mills in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of imports accounting for X units, which was near 77% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Mexico (X units), comprising a 16% share of total imports. Argentina (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to mill rolling roll imports into Brazil stood at -1.7%. At the same time, Argentina (+3.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, declining by -45.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 37%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2021, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per unit), while Brazil ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
