British Virgin Islands represented the largest exporter of sailboats for pleasure or sports, with or without auxiliary motor in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports amounting to X units, which was approx. 71% of total exports in 2021. Bahamas (X units) held an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Argentina (7.1%). The following exporters - Mexico (X units) and Belize (X units) - each finished at a 4% share of total exports.

At the same time, Mexico (+43.5%), Belize (+20.9%) and Bahamas (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Argentina (-4.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. British Virgin Islands (+46 p.p.) and Mexico (+2.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Bahamas and Argentina saw its share reduced by -3.3% and -15.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, British Virgin Islands ($X) emerged as the largest sailboat supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bahamas ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Belize, with a 0.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in British Virgin Islands amounted to +25.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bahamas (+33.0% per year) and Belize (+71.8% per year).
