Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, milled rice exports increased by +X% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, milled rice exports reached their maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2018, exports failed to regain their momentum.
Exports by Country
Uruguay represented the largest exporter of semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2018. Paraguay (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Brazil (X tons), Argentina (X tons) and Mexico (X tons). All these countries together held near X% share of total exports. Ecuador (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.
From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Mexico, while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Uruguay ($X) remains the largest milled rice supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising X% of total milled rice exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Brazil ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Paraguay, with a X% share.
In Uruguay, milled rice exports increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007-2018. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Brazil (+X% per year) and Paraguay (+X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The milled rice export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2018, leveling off at the previous year. Over the last eleven-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. In that year, the export prices for semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice reached their peak level of $X per ton. From 2009 to 2018, the growth in terms of the export prices for semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice remained at a somewhat lower figure.
