Nicaragua represented the largest exporting country with an export of about X units, which accounted for 67% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Mexico (X units), constituting a 27% share of total exports. The Dominican Republic (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, ski-suit export price decreased by -18.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports saw a noticeable descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 71% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Chile dominates imports structure, amounting to X units, which was approx. 75% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the Dominican Republic (X units), constituting an 8.4% share of total imports. The following importers - Colombia (X units), Peru (X units) and Mexico (X units) - together made up 8.3% of total imports.

Chile experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of ski-suits (excluding of knitted or crocheted textiles). At the same time, the Dominican Republic (+9.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Dominican Republic emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +9.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Colombia (-1.7%), Peru (-6.1%) and Mexico (-24.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Chile (+18 p.p.) and the Dominican Republic (+5.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Mexico saw its share reduced by -16.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Chile ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported ski-suits (excluding of knitted or crocheted textiles) in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 42% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Colombia ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by the Dominican Republic, with a 12% share.

In Chile, ski-suit imports decreased by an average annual rate of -6.6% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Colombia (-1.6% per year) and the Dominican Republic (-0.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -6.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the import price increased by 23%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per unit), while Chile ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
