Skis Market Size in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2021, the Latin American skis market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2021, approx. X tons of skis for winter sports were exported in Latin America and the Caribbean; increasing by 94% on the previous year's figure. In general, exports posted a strong increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, skis exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports enjoyed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 102%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Colombia was the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which resulted at 60% of total exports. Argentina (X kg) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 17% share, followed by Brazil (11%) and El Salvador (5.7%). The following exporters - Panama (X kg) and Chile (X kg) - each amounted to a 4.1% share of total exports.
Colombia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the skis for winter sports exports, with a CAGR of +65.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Brazil (+36.8%), Argentina (+20.8%), El Salvador (+15.7%) and Panama (+8.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Chile (-2.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Colombia (+57 p.p.), Brazil (+7.6 p.p.), Chile (+1.9 p.p.) and Argentina (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of El Salvador (-2 p.p.) and Panama (-3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, the largest skis supplying countries in Latin America and the Caribbean were Argentina ($X), Colombia ($X) and Brazil ($X), together comprising 70% of total exports.
Colombia, with a CAGR of +41.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, declining by -37.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the export price increased by 34% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while Colombia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+13.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
Skis Imports
Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
After three years of decline, purchases abroad of skis for winter sports increased by 38% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a abrupt decrease. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country
The countries with the highest levels of skis imports in 2021 were Chile (X tons), Argentina (X tons) and Colombia (X tons), together finishing at 73% of total import. Bahamas (X kg), Honduras (X kg), Panama (X kg), Mexico (X kg), Peru (X kg) and Haiti (X kg) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Bahamas (with a CAGR of +45.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Chile ($X), Argentina ($X) and Colombia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 73% of total imports. Mexico, Bahamas, Honduras, Panama, Peru and Haiti lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 14%.
Bahamas, with a CAGR of +49.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 7.6% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 11% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Haiti ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
