Brazil was the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which accounted for 81% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Mexico (X tons), generating a 17% share of total exports.

Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the synthetic latex rubber exports, with a CAGR of +6.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Mexico (+2.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Brazil (+7.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Mexico saw its share reduced by -4.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest synthetic latex rubber supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mexico ($X), with a 14% share of total exports.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 35% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a slight decline. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Mexico amounted to $X per ton.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

After three years of decline, overseas purchases of synthetic latex rubber increased by 19% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a perceptible downturn. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, synthetic latex rubber imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a pronounced decrease. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Brazil (X tons), distantly followed by Mexico (X tons), Colombia (X tons), Guatemala (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) were the key importers of synthetic latex rubber, together generating 84% of total imports. The following importers - Uruguay (X tons) and Ecuador (X tons) - each reached a 6.3% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Guatemala (with a CAGR of +11.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest synthetic latex rubber importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Brazil ($X), Guatemala ($X) and Mexico ($X), together comprising 63% of total imports.

Guatemala, with a CAGR of +14.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 17% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a perceptible reduction. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Guatemala ($X per ton), while Uruguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
