Exports by Country
Mexico was the major exporter of synthetic organic coloring matter and pigments in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was near 45% of total exports in 2021. Brazil (X tons) took a 27% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Peru (6%) and Colombia (5.1%). Uruguay (X tons), Guatemala (X tons) and Honduras (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Guatemala (with a CAGR of +4.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest organic pigments supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 46% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Peru, with a 17% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Mexico totaled +3.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Brazil (+1.2% per year) and Peru (+2.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, approximately mirroring the previous year. Export price indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, organic pigments export price decreased by -7.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the export price increased by 24% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per ton), while Honduras ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, overseas purchases of synthetic organic coloring matter and pigments were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
