After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of synthetic rubber (excluding latex) increased by 33% to X tons in 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, the largest synthetic rubber (excluding latex) importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Brazil ($X), Mexico ($X) and Argentina ($X), together comprising 84% of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Mexico, with a CAGR of +1.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.
