Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, table flatware exports amounted to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 36%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Brazil dominates exports structure, recording X tons, which was near 86% of total exports in 2022. The following exporters - Panama (X tons), Guatemala (X tons) and Mexico (X tons) - together made up 9.6% of total exports.
Exports from Brazil increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Guatemala (+9.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Guatemala emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +9.3% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Mexico (-2.6%) and Panama (-20.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+42 p.p.) and Guatemala (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Panama (-40.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest table flatware supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 90% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Panama ($X), with a 2.5% share of total exports. It was followed by Mexico, with a 2.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil amounted to +6.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Panama (-20.0% per year) and Mexico (-4.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, rising by 7.6% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2018; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Guatemala ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Guatemala (+1.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2022, table flatware imports in Latin America and the Caribbean fell modestly to X tons, dropping by -1.7% compared with 2021. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. Imports by Country
In 2022, Brazil (X tons), distantly followed by Chile (X tons), Mexico (X tons), Colombia (X tons), Peru (X tons) and Bolivia (X tons) were the largest importers of table flatware, together achieving 71% of total imports. Guatemala (X tons), Argentina (X tons), Ecuador (X tons), the Dominican Republic (X tons), Paraguay (X tons) and Costa Rica (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Dominican Republic (with a CAGR of +12.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Mexico ($X), Brazil ($X) and Chile ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 52% share of total imports. Argentina, Colombia, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Ecuador, Bolivia, Paraguay and Costa Rica lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 37%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Argentina, with a CAGR of +9.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 3.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 4.7%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Bolivia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
