Overall, exports, however, faced a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 111% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, transporter and bridge cranes exports contracted to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 110% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Mexico (X units) and Colombia (X units) represented the key exporters of transporter cranes, gantry cranes and bridge cranes in Latin America and the Caribbean, together resulting at approx. 42% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Jamaica (X units), Trinidad and Tobago (X units), Barbados (X units) and Bahamas (X units), together achieving a 40% share of total exports. The following exporters - Chile (X units) and Argentina (X units) - together made up 7.8% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Chile (with a CAGR of +117.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest transporter and bridge cranes supplying countries in Latin America and the Caribbean were Mexico ($X), Colombia ($X) and Bahamas ($X), with a combined 46% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Trinidad and Tobago, Chile, Barbados, Jamaica and Argentina, which together accounted for a further 31%.

Chile, with a CAGR of +122.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per unit in 2021, waning by -42.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 112% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Jamaica ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bahamas (+2.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2021, supplies from abroad of transporter cranes, gantry cranes and bridge cranes was finally on the rise to reach X units after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, showed a noticeable decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 93%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, transporter and bridge cranes imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 105%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Ecuador (X units) represented the major importer of transporter cranes, gantry cranes and bridge cranes, making up 38% of total imports. Argentina (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Brazil (X units) and Guyana (X units). All these countries together took near 43% share of total imports. Panama (X units), Mexico (X units) and Peru (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Ecuador (with a CAGR of +16.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest transporter and bridge cranes importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Ecuador ($X), Brazil ($X) and Argentina ($X), with a combined 62% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Guyana, Mexico, Peru and Panama, which together accounted for a further 22%.

Among the main importing countries, Guyana, with a CAGR of +23.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -10.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 12%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per unit), while Ecuador ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
