Brazil (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Guatemala (X tons). All these countries together took near 32% share of total exports. Honduras (X tons), Ecuador (X tons), Costa Rica (X tons), El Salvador (X tons) and Uruguay (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Mexico decreased at an average annual rate of -3.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Honduras (+27.4%), El Salvador (+13.4%), Ecuador (+9.6%), Guatemala (+7.4%), Costa Rica (+6.7%) and Brazil (+2.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Honduras emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +27.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Uruguay (-4.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (+11 p.p.), Guatemala (+5.3 p.p.), Honduras (+4.1 p.p.), Mexico (+3.1 p.p.), Ecuador (+1.9 p.p.) and Costa Rica (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest iron or steel pipe and tube supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 57% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Guatemala, with a 6.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Mexico stood at -2.9%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Brazil (-3.4% per year) and Guatemala (+9.5% per year).

Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 9.7%.
