Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2018, approx. X units of umbrellas were exported in Latin America and the Caribbean; picking up by X% against the previous year. In general, umbrella exports, however, continue to indicate a drastic curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of exports peaked at X units in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2018, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, umbrella exports totaled $X in 2018. Overall, umbrella exports, however, continue to indicate a mild drop. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, umbrella exports attained their peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2018, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Panama was the key exporter of umbrellas exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports finishing at X units, which was near X% of total exports in 2018. Chile (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Mexico (X units). All these countries together took near X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2018, average annual rates of growth with regard to umbrella exports from Panama stood at -X%. At the same time, Mexico (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mexico emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2018. By contrast, Chile (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Mexico (+X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2007-2018, the share of Chile (-X p.p.) and Panama (-X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Panama ($X) remains the largest umbrella supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising X% of total umbrella exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Mexico ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of value in Panama amounted to -X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Mexico (+X% per year) and Chile (-X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2018, the umbrella export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the umbrella export price, however, continues to indicate buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices for umbrellas attained their maximum at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2018, export prices failed to regain their momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per unit), while Panama ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, umbrella imports increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of imports peaked at X units in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2018, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
