In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 5.4% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil amounted to -12.3%.

In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, waning by -14.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a slight slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 67%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a perceptible curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 10%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Brazil (X tons) represented the main importer of unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons, constituting 63% of total imports. Argentina (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 19% share, followed by Venezuela (8.8%) and Mexico (5%).

Brazil experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons. Mexico (-3.4%), Argentina (-6.9%) and Venezuela (-15.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Brazil increased by +22 percentage points.
