The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2022, production growth remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a pronounced shrinkage. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, video game console imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 30%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Mexico (X units), Brazil (X units) and Guatemala (X units) was the main importer of video game consoles (not operated by means of payments) in Latin America and the Caribbean, committing 74% of total import. It was distantly followed by Chile (X units), comprising a 7.6% share of total imports. The following importers - Colombia (X units), Argentina (X units) and Peru (X units) - together made up 10% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Guatemala (with a CAGR of +26.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
