X-Ray Generator Market Size in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2021, after two years of growth, there was decline in the Latin American x-ray generator market, when its value decreased by -1% to $X. The total consumption indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +6.7% against 2018 indices. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.
X-Ray Generator Production in Latin America and the Caribbean
In value terms, x-ray generator production contracted slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total production indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production increased by +4.2% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 87% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2015 to 2021, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.
X-Ray Generator Exports
Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean
For the third year in a row, LatAmerica and the Caribbean recorded decline in overseas shipments of x-ray generators, which decreased by -11% to X tons in 2021. Overall, exports saw a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 42%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, x-ray generator exports fell markedly to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 13%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2020, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
Exports by Country
Mexico was the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which finished at 66% of total exports. Brazil (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 13% share, followed by Chile (7.9%). Costa Rica (X tons), the Dominican Republic (X tons) and Ecuador (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Mexico decreased at an average annual rate of -14.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Ecuador (+66.4%), Costa Rica (+25.1%), the Dominican Republic (+12.3%) and Chile (+1.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ecuador emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +66.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Brazil (-2.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+8 p.p.), Chile (+5.6 p.p.), Costa Rica (+3.4 p.p.) and Ecuador (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Mexico (-22.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest x-ray generator supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with an 8.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Chile, with a 3.7% share.
In Mexico, x-ray generator exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Brazil (+1.2% per year) and Chile (-5.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -16.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 53%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2020, and then shrank notably in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Ecuador ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+16.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
X-Ray Generator Imports
Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2021, x-ray generator imports in Latin America and the Caribbean surged to X tons, with an increase of 18% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a noticeable contraction. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, x-ray generator imports amounted to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -8.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 20%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Brazil (X tons) and Mexico (X tons) were the major importers of x-ray generators in 2021, resulting at near 25% and 20% of total imports, respectively. Argentina (X tons) held an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the Dominican Republic (8.5%) and Guatemala (7.5%). Chile (X tons), Peru (X tons), Honduras (X tons), Colombia (X tons), Costa Rica (X tons) and Guyana (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by the Dominican Republic (with a CAGR of +24.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Mexico ($X), Brazil ($X) and Argentina ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 73% share of total imports. Peru, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Honduras and Guyana lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.
Among the main importing countries, Peru, with a CAGR of +13.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -9.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 39%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Guyana ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
