The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 18%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then plummeted in the following year.
Exports by Country
Lithuania (X tons) was the main destination for stationery exports from Latvia, with a 55% share of total exports. Moreover, stationery exports to Lithuania exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Estonia (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Germany (X tons), with an 8.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Lithuania totaled +2.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Estonia (-8.2% per year) and Germany (-1.5% per year).
In value terms, Lithuania ($X), Germany ($X) and Estonia ($X) constituted the largest markets for stationery exported from Latvia worldwide, with a combined 68% share of total exports. France, Denmark, Sweden, Russia, Belarus and Switzerland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.
Among the main countries of destination, France, with a CAGR of +122.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average stationery export price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -2.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, stationery export price decreased by -11.4% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 21%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+20.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Latvia
In 2022, stationery imports into Latvia dropped to X tons, declining by -14% on 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a slight decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 18% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, stationery imports reduced to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a noticeable slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 23%. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Lithuania (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) were the main suppliers of stationery imports to Latvia, with a combined 59% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Ukraine (with a CAGR of +15.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest stationery suppliers to Latvia were Lithuania ($X), Poland ($X) and Ukraine ($X), together comprising 57% of total imports.

Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
