The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, non-electric chainsaw exports soared to $X in 2022. In general, exports saw perceptible growth. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Lithuania (X units), Estonia (X units) and Kyrgyzstan (X units) were the main destinations of non-electric chainsaw exports from Latvia, with a combined 100% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Kyrgyzstan (with a CAGR of +93.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Lithuania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, purchases abroad of chainsaws with a self-contained non-electric motor increased by 17% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, non-electric chainsaw imports rose significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +40.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 36%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Lithuania (X units), Sweden (X units) and China (X units) were the main suppliers of non-electric chainsaw imports to Latvia, with a combined 69% share of total imports. Germany, Estonia, Poland, the Czech Republic and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +57.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest non-electric chainsaw suppliers to Latvia were Lithuania ($X), Sweden ($X) and Estonia ($X), together accounting for 80% of total imports. Germany, China, Poland, the Czech Republic and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 19%.

In 2022, the average non-electric chainsaw import price amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -6.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
