In 2022, the amount of evaporated and condensed milk imported into Latvia fell remarkably to X tons, waning by -16.6% on 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, evaporated and condensed milk imports dropped to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 23%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Lithuania (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Estonia (X tons) were the main suppliers of evaporated and condensed milk imports to Latvia, together comprising 89% of total imports. The Netherlands and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 11%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +53.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
