In 2022, the average fish fat and oil export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 21% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.7%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Nigeria (+57.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of fish fats and oils into Latvia soared to X tons, rising by 186% against 2021 figures. Overall, imports showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 2,747% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
