From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Estonia stood at $X per ton.

Imports into Latvia

Lemon and lime imports into Latvia totaled X tons in 2022, remaining constant against 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 22%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, lemon and lime imports rose sharply to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Spain (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of lemon and lime imports to Latvia, together comprising 72% of total imports. Germany, Poland, Lithuania, South Africa and Argentina lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 24%.

The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
