Imports into Latvia
Nucleic acids imports into Latvia contracted to X tons in 2022, waning by -5% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 135%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, nucleic acids imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 214% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Ukraine (X tons) constituted the largest nucleic acids supplier to Latvia, with a 42% share of total imports. Moreover, nucleic acids imports from Ukraine exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), twofold. Belgium (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Ukraine amounted to +217.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+36.1% per year) and Belgium (+21.1% per year).
In value terms, Ukraine ($X) constituted the largest supplier of nucleic acids and their salts to Latvia, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 4.6% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 4.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Ukraine totaled +237.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+58.2% per year) and China (+31.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average nucleic acids import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price enjoyed a buoyant expansion.
