In 2022, the Latvian oxides of boron market was finally on the rise to reach $X after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a noticeable curtailment. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

In value terms, oxides of boron exports dropped markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 226,923% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

Poland (X tons), Lithuania (X tons) and Finland (X tons) were the main destinations of oxides of boron exports from Latvia, together comprising 100% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Lithuania (with a CAGR of +234.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the key foreign market for oxides of boron, boric acids and inorganic acids exports from Latvia, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Lithuania ($X), with a 32% share of total exports. It was followed by Finland, with a 3.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Poland totaled +49.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Lithuania (+259.9% per year) and Finland (+50.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average oxides of boron export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 20% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 102%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Finland ($X per ton) and Belarus ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Lithuania ($X per ton) and Poland ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (+55.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. X tons of oxides of boron, boric acids and inorganic acids were imported into Latvia; with a decrease of -35.8% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports, however, recorded a perceptible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 64% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

In value terms, oxides of boron imports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 67%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Turkey (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of oxides of boron to Latvia, accounting for a 86% share of total imports. Moreover, oxides of boron imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Finland (X tons), sixfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Turkey totaled +55.6%.

In value terms, the largest oxides of boron suppliers to Latvia were Turkey ($X) and Finland ($X).

In terms of the main suppliers, Turkey, with a CAGR of +53.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average oxides of boron import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 34% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 57%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
